While still a sensitive subject here on Hazard Ave, I've come to terms with the fact that there will be no Brunschwig & Fils' Lhasa wallpaper hung in our new powder room. Finding that perfect print, however, did help us narrow down the choices for the next round of the search, a blue and white chinoiserie/toile.
I came across a close match: The Vase by David Hicks for Clarence House

I also showed Chris an online swatch of Shumacher's Chiang Mai Dragon in the China Blue colorway, which he loved and kept referring to as "The Dragon".

The nice lady at the wallpaper shop provided us with samples of each.
While The Vase is beautiful, the side-by-side comparison made it an easy decision. We're going with "The Dragon", people!
(btw, I'm choosing to ignore anyone's attempt to call it trendy. I call it a classic).
There's just one teensy weensie problem...it is quite expensive. The way I see it, however, is that we're saving so much money by doing most of the work in this bathroom ourselves that we can afford to splurge on something we both love. If that isn't justification, I don't know what is.

Carrie, I'm glad you found something that you both like. I think just about any blue and white pattern is classic and since it's such a small room it's the best space to splurge on. Now get busy-can't wait to see it! Who hangs it you or Chris?
Go for it- it's beautiful and timeless. Those prints do stand the test of time and are a classic. And it's great justification that you're doing the work yourselves, so why not splurge a bit! When it's right, it's right! :) How exciting!
I'm so glad you are searching wallpapers. I told my sister I would help her find some ideas, and I'm clueless where to start. If you have any other good sources, let me know.
Ooo love it! I love a wallpapered bathroom, and like the previous poster said, better to splurge in a smaller room. It's def not trendy at all in the sense that it won't feel dated in 10 years. Totally classic.
Love the choice!! I'm too much of a committment phobe for wallpaper. Repainting is much easier than removing wallpaper. Excited to see how it turns out!
I love blue and white, and it is quite popular right now, but the other posters are right, it is timeless. the dragon choice is great, it would have been my choice as well. I have noticed how expensive wallpaper is. I'm quite shocked. Can't wait to see your bathroom all done!
I think that something that makes such a statement is worth spending extra money on. You know that you'll absolutely LOVE that bathroom everytime you see it. :)
p.s. That's the similar discussion we had with our gas fireplace. I absolutely LOVE the most expensive one. But I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE it, as opposed to only loving it a little bit. I truly believe it's worth the extra $$$.
Blue and white is such a timeless combination and if you love it why not go for it! I could see this paper paired with yellow, green, red, blue, even black. I may be a bit biased because my very first tiny home was done in blue and white, but when we put the house on the market nearly everyone who toured our home said they loved the color palette.
Good luck, can't wait to see you paper hung.

I love your wallpaper choice, it is definitely worth the splurge!
Love the dragon! I say it's a classic! Definitely worth the splurge. I'm still trying to figure out what pattern I want to splurge on for our powder room! Summer Palace is also a fun design... http://www.osborneandlittle.com/osborne-&-little/wallpaper-album-5/summer-palace/
I think you definitely made the right choice!
Love the Dragon.....GORGEOUS...and love the colors...I would choose that in a heartbeat. You have a great eye!
Hi! The blue & white is a classic-- so no worries about being trendy!! I think you are making a wonderful decision and I can't wait to see it! Take care, Caroline
