Memory Lane: The Living Room in Our Old House

Welcome to the final day of my "Old House" series. It has been fun to reminisce about the house we decided to sell a year ago this week to buy our current home on Hazard Ave.

Today, I'm sharing what was my favorite room in that house, the Living Room.
This is what it looked like when we purchased the house.
I can't take credit for that furniture. It belonged to the previous owners.

And here is what it looked like when we decided to sell it.

It took six years of tweaking to get this room just right.
And then we moved.

Awww...don't be sad, friends! Chris and I love Hazard Ave "as is" even more than we loved our old home after we finished it. And we're kind of addicted to remodeling. What would we do with ourselves if we didn't have a project to work on?

Happy Friday, everyone. Hope you have a great weekend!

I don't think your husband is the only one with mad skilz. :P

It looks so cozy. Is it hard going from a perfectly finished house to remodeling chaos?

Absolutely stunning! Is that black (?) cain chair an antique or is it available at a store I might know? I really like it.

Carrie! This space is fantastic! Seriously. You are one talented lady. And once again, you have made me feel so much better when you say it took six years of tweaking to get it right.

Another unbelievable transformation. Good job you two! I am with you wholeheartedly. Once our house is perfect that's the sign it's time to move and off we go to the next dump:)

Great room! The splashes of color are subtle but still have lots of impact. So appreciate the honesty of the "6 year tweak"! - Quite often I know exactly what I want to finish the room/project but can't resist holding out for the best price.

What a great series, Carrie! It has been so fun watching what the wonderful transformations you did with your old house! The living room is my favorite too...holy cow, its like unrecognizable!!! I am intrigued by those 6 yellow and white prints(?) on the left-hand wall, they look like they're right up my alley. You and Chris are definitely some kick ass DIY renovators!!! Do you plan on staying at Hazard after you are done or are you going to move on?

Brilliant! These 'old house' postings have gotten me really excited about what you and Chris will do next and the possibilities for your Hazard home! I'm at the edge of my seat. :)

I love the way you added the artwork next to the window above the sofa, very clever.
