Chris and I came across this house while visiting my parents in Ohio a few weeks back.
It is so perfectly imperfect, it looks like it was made to be crooked on purpose.
Turns out this home is on the National Register of Historic Places as the John Snow House built, ca. 1815.
Do you have any quirky homes near you?
(Btw, Elizabeth of the Mustard Ceiling is hosting a Mix and Mingle party this week. Stop on by and check out some new-to-you blogs!)

That is so funny, at first I though it was my eyes but that door is totally crooked!!! Nothing near me but growing up we had a very old once beautiful Victorian home near us that was literally crooked, it was the kind of house you had to do a double take on.....sadly someone tore it down and built a huge but tastefully done home so all was not lost, they had said to restore it would have been more than building new...often the case.
how fun is that! my husband and i recently were looking for homes and looked at one that was so old and all the floors were crooked.. the master bedroom was at a huge slope because it was added later on top of the existing slightly sloped roof!!!! it was neat, but i couldn't picture us living there and literaly rolling out of bed in the morning!
:-) looks like my eyes are playing tricks on me! the windows also weird?
Yikes! I might feel like I was walking into a fun house. No interesting homes near us, although the people on the corner of my street growing up painted their house Peptobismol pink with peach trim. It was....interesting. :)
hahahahaha that messed with my vision for a second there!
It's so perfectly imperfect!
I think *that* is hazardous design! :) PS - thanks for the link to the mix & mingle party! I've been having fun browsing the new blogs!
HA! This is so funny! I bet the owners smile every time they arrive home each evening!
LOL, I think I'd get seasick living there. When I was growing up there was a house near my elementary school that looked like a stone castle right in the middle of a neighborhood with traditional homes. (I still want to see what the inside of that home looks like!)
Crazy....It's like you're in a fun house when looking at that!
Kind of makes your eyes hurt looking at it - but what a historic landmark apparently. There is a lot of history around us but there is one little spot in particular that a friend of mine lives in and the homes are over 150 years old. And a lot of the owners have spruced them up nicely. I love old homes with character.
How cool! I'm adjusting to new glasses today so when I first saw this I just thought it was my glasses playing tricks on me.
Oh! that's so freaky fun, I can't say I've seen anything quite like this one!
Gotta love a house with character!
That is crazy! I don't think I'd like walking in that front door every day! I don't have any quirky houses like that near me, but it does remind me of the Winchester Mystery House in California - another (very)quirky house! :)
Whoa! I thought that was your camera playing tricks on me! It really looks like that in person? I have never seen anything like it! Pretty cool the homeowners can say they live in a crooked house! :) It must have so much original character and detail inside.
Nope, have never seen anything like it. I bet you did a double take! It would drive me nuts ...or cure me of my self diagnosed OCD!
There is an unusual home referred to as "The Mushroom House" near where I grew up in NY. I would say you could definitely classify it as "quirky"! Check it out: http://trevorvansickle.com/2010/09/22/142-park-road-the-mushroom-house/
