I don't know why it took me so long...it was actually quite easy. I just used double sided hem tape.
Look, I even mitered the corners with some creative folding and fabric glue!
The shade has these steep ridges where the folds are. I pinned the ribbon and hem tape in place and ironed away. To get a straight edge on the side, I followed the stitching of the hem.
(Btw, here's the link to the shade I purchased. It isn't the highest quality, but it was on sale and super cheap. I think with shipping I ended up paying around 20 bucks.)
One side down, one more to go.
Here's what it looks like in the room after the Hubs hung it for me.
Just the perfect custom touch for our powder room.

Shamelessly stealing this idea for my living room! It looks awesome!
looks fantastic!
the curtains are awesome, but i can honestly say that bathroom makes me happy every time i see it. :)
Talk about the perfect finishing touch - it's little details like this that I love and that make a huge impact. Great job! Is the ribbon navy or black? I've gotten our blinds from JcPenney and I agree with you. Not top of the line, but inexpensive and do the job that we need them for.
This is soooo gorgeous! It makes it such a showstopper :D
This looks great! Thanks for sharing. I've been thinking about making a roman shade for my powder room but this is so much better!
It came out great! The black ribbon ties everything together perfectly :)
Looks great Carrie. The addition of the ribbon makes it look so much more expensive.
Well, it looks like you just made your gorgeous bathroom even prettier. The shade was the perfect touch. I'm a big fan of blue & black together.
Happy weekend!

Very neatly done. Makes the treatment more interesting.
It IS the perfect finishing touch! How great that it was so cheap, too!
Perfect! Looks great. I've wanted to do this with our curtains for nearly two years now, but have not taken them down...now I'm debating if I even want curtains :)
You are such a genius! I have always wanted custom roman shade but it's so expensive. And I can't sew! Now, I know what to do with my son's window treatment! Great inspiration. I love your inexpensive and custom window treatment look! Thanks for the wonderful idea!
