Oh Crap.

So it was a beautiful Sunday morning on Hazard Ave. The sun was shining, birds were singing, and the smell of fresh brewed coffee filled the house.
But then Chris noticed that the plaster ceiling medallion in our foyer had popped off and all that perfect Sunday morning magical-ness came to a screeching halt.

Yikes, that can't be good. Now, just to avoid confusion, the medallion doesn't support the weight of the chandelier, although admittedly it does look like it. We're not 100% sure what caused this to happen. Old House Syndrome?

Later that day, I helped Chris remove the chandelier so he could get a closer look at the medallion and make his repairs.
That's when things really started to go bad.
We managed to get the chandelier safely down from the ceiling, but it somehow fell from its storage spot and crashed to the floor. Crystals shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces.

Oh @#$%.

Poor Chandy, you were once so bright and majestic.
And now this is all that remains of the spot you once inhabited.

After a good cry and stiff drink I was able to come to terms with the damage.  The bad news is that we lost 25 crystals, have no light in our foyer, and have a gaping hole in our ceiling.
The good news is that replacement crystals are available online and the plaster medallion is still in one piece.
Since I'm a glass-half-full kind of girl, I'm confident that at some point I'll be able to share some really, really good news like the hole has been repaired, the medallion has been secured to the ceiling, all broken crystals have been replaced, and the chandelier is once again shining like a beacon of hope on Hazard Ave.

In the meantime, please make me feel better by sharing your "Oh Crap" experiences.
And if you don't have any, just humor me and make something up.
