An Unhaunted Halloween

Do you have that house in your neighborhood that looks uninhabited and haunted? Maybe the paint is peeling, the landscape is overgrown, and just it just looks downright creepy? That house that the neighborhood kids make up spooky stories about?
Well, our house could have been that house when we bought it.
Little by little Chris and I are doing our best to make it look less haunted. What better way than to clean up all the trim in our family room?

Chris added quarter round toe molding to close up the small gap between the floor and the baseboards. It is a small detail that makes a big difference.

Then we got to work and painted every square inch of trim in the room. Here are some before and afters.

What a difference a little white paint makes!

Now that the trim is painted, Chris and I can finally put the tools down. Our work here is done!

All that is left to do is patiently wait for the backordered wallpaper to be delivered and hung.
And I suppose Chris has some side tables to build...
And there are still pillows and accessories to purchase...
And I guess we'll need lighting...
And artwork...
And drapes...
Hmmmm, I guess there's still quite a bit left to do in here.

In the meantime, we're planning to move all the furniture in and start enjoying the room.

Happy Halloween everyone!

There's a house across the street from us that is CREEPY and the people that live there are creepy too. It is amazing what a little paint can do and that quarter inch does wonders - start loading in! I see the TV is all hung too - looking great! I have a little update similar to this that I've been meaning to post about.

Aren't projects infuriating like that? The good news is, it will all soon be worth it....this room will be amazing and you'll have the time to enjoy it. Unless there is another similar project lurking...

I can't believe the difference in that room! It looks absolutely amazing! Isn't it amazing how a coat of paint can make everything look cleaner and fresher! Don't forget to stop and appreciate how far you've come and really enjoy all your hard work!

Looks great! and the TV is up! We still need to paint trim in large parts of the house - I know it will make a huge difference but the work is so tedious. Happy Halloween.

Hey, Carrie! Happy unhaunted Halloween to you and your mostly finished room. Yeah, you still have stuff to do, but the hard part is out of the way (except for Chris's project -- but that's fun for him, right?) I love the before and after of the trim work. You guys done good!

It has come a LONG way! And our house is totally still looking like a haunted house what with the overgrown garden in the front...I have NO idea how to tame it, so I pretend it doesn't exist. :P Someday I'll grow up and actually address it...

Amazing work in transforming the house...some day you will want to add your own "haunting" accessories for halloween.

Our last house was over 100 years old and could totally have been the creepy house when we bought it as well. That's why I love reading your updates because it reminds me so much of the work we did. Looking wonderful!!
