Behold the power of fresh paint in our butler's pantry...

View into the new family room...
Finally, a fresh & clean place to display all the pretty dishes we received as wedding gifts.
I used Robert Allen's St. Etienne fabric and a tutorial from Effortless Style Blog to make the box pleat valance.
When I finished the room, Chris's reaction said it all:"Now I won't be grossed out to eat off any of the dishes we keep in there".
Men say the sweetest things :)
(Btw, the paint color inside the cabinets is Enamelware by Martha Stewart for Home Depot. Hurry up and grab your Martha paint chips as her paint is on its way out of stores...)

I'm not sure if I've commented here yet or not, but i have to tell you: love what you've done with the place :)

Love it...and the blue in the back of the cabinets is perfect! Take care, Caroline
Well my first comment just got booted, but I said it was awesome and I love all of the glassware displayed. I really like the blue and white fruit bowl too. That fabric that you used is really pretty and at first I thought that was a roman shade in the far away shot. Very very nice Carrie - you do good work!
Oh so pretty! I love, love, love that blue!!
Looks soo gorgeous, so old world but freshened up! Nice job!
It's wonderful. When's the butler arriving? (And the cook that will be passing through the dishes from the kitchen.)
I am always amazed by the power of paint - great colors, btw! M.
that is so beautiful! love teh glass cabinets! i always dreamed of having a butlers's pantry after a friend of mine had one in her home when i was a kid and i thought it was the coolest! maybe one day! for now i can just drool over yours.
Carrie, you sure do work fast. Love the colors. The valance is perfect.
Very crisp and clean! Great look for the space and I adore the pop of color (not too much) on the roman shade. This is house is one of my favs!!!
SO PRETTY! I love the color on the inside of the cabinets and the walls. What a huge difference a little paint makes (or a lot of paint). I'm seriously jealous of your butler's pantry... like REALLY REALLY jealous.
Well done Carrie! Simple fresh updates to a space that may have "grossed out" your husband, but most of us only dream of having!!!

Fantastic, Carrie! And I love your husband's comment--the butler's pantry really does look sparkling fresh and clean.
Carrie, I love it! What a fantastic space, I am dying over it!!! And the window - the box pleat valance is perfect for a little style that still allows the light to come in. So pretty, great job. You've been busy!
Carrie - it looks fantastic! Love the valance. Great job.
The wonders of paint! It looks great. Thanks for the heads up on the Martha paint - I didn't know it was going - I use her chips to colour match to BM as I use their Aura paint, but Martha has such nice colours...
Looks great! And thanks for passing that along about Martha, I love her paint colors so I'll have to snag a bunch and make my own paint chip fan out of them
This is so lovely. I adore older houses for exactly this reason: they have a butler's pantry! It looks great, btw. And I love the fabric you chose for the window!
Once again you've created a beautiful space. I like that it looks crisp and clean. You really do have beautiful glassware and the blue is a perfect color to make them pop. In fact, I didn't notice the blue until you pointed it out because I was looking at your wedding gifts.
So crisp and pretty - I'd love to have a butler's pantry . . .
LOVE LOVE LOVE! I'm in tears I love it so much!
The power of paint, yes. But wow, the power of a good (layered) window treatment!
Looks very clean and, as someone above said, crisp. A little depressing to me how much you've done recently :).
Also, thanks for the heads-up about Martha. While I don't like the quality of her paint (I feel like it's got a million bubbles), I loooooove her colors, so I'll be heading over to Home Depot to stock up on paint chips in the near future!
Stunning! It looks amazing and the color in the inside of the cabinets is the perfect accent.
Oh la la! Love it!
It looks awesome! I love old houses. They have so much character...ours is honestly beyond boring in comparison... but David says that old houses also come with a lot of other old things behind the walls... and, of course, he's right. But I still love them. :)
Great job!
Hi There. I just love what you've done to your home. I have read through everything so far and your taste is fantastic. I have a question about the hardware in the pantry. Are you going to strip them as they look original to the house. The contrast would be beautiful. Love your home .
Ha! You're so right about the power of paint and the masculine perspective. :) Your pantry is enviable, and your window treatment is perfect. Nice job!

Looks ten times better! I love that light blue color you used. It is my favorite color and I think every room should have a little of it. You should sent that on to House of Turquoise. She compiles a post of reader pictures every once and while.
Beautiful. So crisp and clean and well put together.
Again, very well done! It's amazing how fresh and cute it looks now.
In the future, are you going to remove the hardware and strip it in a slow cooker? Just curious. :)
Thanks Anonymous and Sarah. No plans to strip the hardware. God knows how many times they've been painted at this point. I can barely see the screws and don't have the patience to try and pry them out :)
Looks so fresh and clean! I love the the window treatments and the blue inside the cabinets. Can't wait for the updates on the bathroom :)
Love the color blue green you used! It looks so pretty against all the white and shows off your glassware beautifully. I also just saw your living room on All Things Bright and Beautiful...another gorgeous addition to your home. I can't wait to see all of your rooms pulled together in one post...I love them all. Happy weekend!
Love his reaction! Looks great. It is always amazing what a coat of paint can do for a space. Cheers!
Utterly perfect, Carrie! Happy New Year and let's be thankful for clean dishes : )
Wow just some new paint makes the world of difference, looks great!
You are spoiling us with these fun before-and-afters! Huge difference!
It looks so fresh and pretty, and I love the valance!
Stacy
I'm green with envy! Absolutely beautiful!!!
Is that a pass through I see? If so to where?
Kristincita,
The pass through goes to the kitchen!
My goodness you have been busy on Hazard Avenue! The butler's pantry looks amazing. AGAIN --- Great job!!!
Dang, Girl! Two reveals in one week is unheard of. I am SO glad you kept this butler's pantry. I am green, green, green with envy. All it needed was some fresh paint to look perfect. The window treatments are nice too. I have the same painted wine glasses, by the way.

It looks amazing! Great job! I love the power of paint! And I love that you added a separate color inside the cabinets! It looks great and really draws your eye in! And no more gross plates- yay! ha ha! :) That comment from Chris was too funny!
LOVE the box pleat and the minty backdrop in the cabinets!! What a transformation! So fresh and modern!
It looks fantastic! That valance is fabulous!
Paint really does work wonders, it looks like a whole new space! My husband would make the same comment about the dishes, too funny!
Sure- just rub your pantry in my face! you know how much I want one- sob, sob! It really, really looks awesome. I love the blue. What will we do when you run out of rooms!?
WOW! Looks so fresh and clean!
I am jealous I love your butler's pantry. It looks great with some fresh paint. I just discovered your blog from WOW wednesday. I am off to go see some more post that you have done!
I love that you have a butler's pantry (I do not) and that you have painted it - it looks great and you can see everything better with the color.
You are sooooo lucky to have such a cool and unique space like this. Super Jealy....if I coud steal it, I would! Can't get enough of what a fresh coat of paint cant do!

Crisp, lovely, fresh! I love your valance too. Going to have to check out that tutorial...
OK...you had me at blue! I am seriously thinking about painting the back of my bookshelves. This is just another small push for me in that direction!
Carrie - your blog posts haven't been coming through on my roll and I've been missing out on all these fantastic reveals. I love your valance/blind and that shade of blue is so gorgeous. Very jealous of all that space! :)
