Splish Splash

The paint in the butler's pantry is barely dry, but Chris and I aren't wasting any time getting started on our next project.

As I mentioned last year (that joke really never gets old, does it?), we have another bathroom remodel in the works. This time its our guest bath. I'm sure our guests will be just as thrilled as we are when this room can be crossed off the list.

Here's what the guest bath looked like when we bought the house.

Not awful, just dated.
We've already made a couple of small changes since moving in, like removing the glass shower door.
I stained the vanity a darker color too.
But obviously there's still a lot left to do...
We need to remove the wallpaper and wallpaper border, and switch out the almond color toilet, tub, and tile.
We are going to replace the vintage 80's light fixture and 3 pane mirror,
and update the faucet, sink, and countertop.
We'll need to repair the peeling paint on the ceiling also.
I don't know...the "Fan" and "Lights" labels may be rather helpful. Perhaps we'll leave them.
Just kidding.

We're definitely keeping the floor, though.

I can't think of a better way to start the new year.

I know it will look grand. I love that floor and glad to see you are keeping it.

I love the floor too - it's a keeper! At least it looks like maybe that wallpaper will come off a little easier than the living room - I guess it depends whether that's plaster or drywall underneath. I can't wait to see your inspiration and/or idea board for this guest bath.

Oh My...I hate wallpaper. I attempted to tackle our kitchen this weekend. It is sad, sad I say. The paper is coming off in 1" pieces. If our house were to fall today, the wallpaper would still be standing.
Good luck on your revamp! Can't wait to see it finished.

OK seriously, I saw that awesome tile in the first picture and had a knot in my stomach the whole time that you were going to get rid of it. WHEW! I think its going to look great. It has a pretty good layout, but you're right the almond colored stuff needs to go.

Everyone seems to love your floor...but me, it's that wallpaper. I'm a little sad you are saying good-bye to it. Please say you kept those lighthouse rugs?!!

Love the floor..so easy to work around that with all the vintage inspiration around us, I could see pretty white subways on the wall and making it feel fresh and new with either a fresh coat of paint or a fun but elegant wallpaper...whatever you do i know its going to look smashing!

You're lucky to not have to change the floor. That will save you a lot of money and besides, it's gorgeous. Love it when you can maintain something original to the house.

Love that floor! Can't wait to see what you come up with for the rest of the room!

Very exciting! We have a bathroom that is so similar to this one - same color tile, same light fixture, same shower door! I ripped out the shower door immediately but sadly, the rest remains. Can't wait to see the transformation!

I have seen labels for switches that were a bit nicer - I think they were metal & attached under the screw above or below each switch. Just a thought (in case the labels really are helpful) - although now they are probably nowhere to be found.

And like everyone else - I'm so glad you are able to save the floor!

I'm very much looking forward to seeing you get rid of the tub and tile space. We've got horrible blue in the main bath at our house, but since we don't look at this as our "forever" house, we're working around it and covering it up as well as we can b/c a project like that is just so expensive! As usual, I'm jealous :).

I've seen wayyyyy worse bathrooms, you actually have pretty good bones to work with. That being said, I know you are going to knock this one out of the park just like that family room of yours!

Fabulous floor! And I totally think you should keep the labels on the lightswitch, and maybe add some more for the faucet and toilet? :)

That bathroom is definitely screaming "80s". You'll be able to have alot of fun in there. I love the window. Is that called a dormer window? Can't wait to see the progress. You go girl (and boy)!

What Kelly said for the toilet and faucet!

I have no doubt that this room will turn out just as fabulous as the others. And the "last year" joke thing...two of my students tried telling me that they didn't remember what I was talking about because it was something from--you guessed it--last year. Ha. ha. ha. Crazy kids. :P

Watch out, Everyone! Here they go again!!

Oh the floor...it was the first thing I noticed, and I love the black and white paired with the stained wood on the vanity. How did you do that? I'd love to know!

Looking forward to more details.

Haha. When I moved into my place, there were labels over the switches in my bath too. Whose idea was that?! The first thing I did was peel them off.
