House Stalker
I've been stalking this house in my neighborhood because of its exterior paint color. I'll drive out of my way just to admire it. I've driven friends and family members by it to show it off. It is charcoal grayish green awesomeness with cream trim and I love it.
Do I dare knock on the door and ask the owners for the name of the paint colors?

I would definitely do it - why not, right? You're complimenting them so I think they'd be perfectly fine inquiring about the paint colors. Friends of ours just got their house painted a similar color - I can find out what color they used too if you'd like.
I've had two people knock on our door asking for our siding color. Both encounters have gone well. I say go for it! Unless you are socially awkward like me, then I'd make your husband do it.
My parents did when they were choosing colors. We have had people stop and ask us our colors, too. I don't think they will mind at all. It is really a compliment.

TOTALLY ASK THEM! It would tickle me pick if someone came by and asked that, I'm sure they'd be so awesomely flattered and love to help.

Love that house. I'm a total house stalker. I think the owners would be honored if you asked them the name of their paint color.
This actually happened to me. I had seen a house that I thought the colours would be perfect for my friends house he was painting. I took him to see it, its in a rural area just outside of town, and the people where in the driveway.
With my encouragement...you know its easier when you are not on your own.We got out of the truck and introduced ourselves and asked them if they didn't mind telling us where they got the paint and colour.
Well they could not have been nicer and actually gave us an empty paint can with all the information on it.
They said it was great to know someone loved it as much as they did.
In the end he did paint his house the same and lots of people have complimented him also.
So to make a long story longer...go ahead and knock you will never know till you try.

I think the biggest compliment to our home is when people ask about colors, fixtures or just anything about our home. I gladly share things and I am sure this home owner would too! It is a beautiful color!

I agree with Pam- you probably won't be the first! I say go for it and ask! It's a beautiful color combination and would look amazing on your house! I have been driving by one of our neighbors and admiring their porch/pergola. I want to ask them if I can take a picture to show our contractor, because I want the same thing. How about if you do it, I'll do it! :)
OF COURSE! love, love, love the color myself...i have gotten bold in my old age and have even inquired as to where women have gotten their hair done if i like their cut/color & style! BE BRAVE.

Wow, that's a gorgeous house. There is a similar color in my neighborhood which I love. I've always wanted a painted house, but it seems that every house we buy is brick. You should totally go and ask what color the paint is. I'm sure they would be flattered.
Yes, by all means! Ask! Last time I painted I had people knocking on the door before it was finished. One guy came up the back stairs and nearly through my kitchen door! Scared the you know what out of me. But then he painted his house the same colors.
We should repaint next year. Those colors are great. Let us know what they are.

I'll share how I went about that very scenario...I wrote the homeowners a "fan letter", telling them how much I loved the color of their shutters and how I would love to know what they used. In order to make it as easy as possible for the owners to answer me, I included a self-addressed stamped envelope. Within days I heard back and presto I had my new shutter color!
I missed this post, sorry. I do it all the time. Actually, I leave a note with my cell # on it. This is how I found my perfect (to me) roof shingle, siding & stone. People love that. I met one of my best friends when she knocked on my front door because she was stalking my construction.
I see that you did get the courage to knock :) hopefully next time they will be there or better yet leave a note like Linda mentioned!
I just saw your other post that you knocked and missed them, but I hope you get ahold of the owners because that color is STUNNING!
I can see why you're stalking it - it is stunning! I've been thinking of painting my own house this exact scheme but now I'm going to go a bit lighter (but a similar idea of a greyish-greenish colour with white trim)! xx

For sure! Just be upfront and tell them how much you love it. Everyone loves compliments! Let us know what happens. And then I won't be embarrassed to share my own house stalking stories. . .
