Note to Self

Dear Carrie,
Someday when the roof is done and the house is painted,
after furniture has been purchased for your nearly empty living room,
after the ancient wallpaper is removed from your dining room,
and after your kitchen has been completely overhauled,
it will finally be time to focus on the back stairs.

And when you do, make it look like this:

Because it'll look a whole lot better than what it looks like now:

You'll thank me for it when you are agonizing over how to inject some beauty and style into this utilitarian space.

Your welcome.

That inspiration picture is pretty amazing, but they don't look too bad to me. At least they dont have 25 year old stained carpet on them and lead directly into your entry way so that everyone can see them as soon as they walk in. That's a positive.

All in good time :) you'll get there! So cool that you have back stairs, Victorian homes are awesome!

Our back stairs are also in sad shape. I'd love to do something fun to the though since we'll probably be the only ones using them.

What did they do to your baseboard? That stairstep thing has to be one of the weirdest design choices I've seen...
